General Info

Albania is of interest for cultural tourism and the historical centers of Shkodra, Kruja, Tirana, Durres, Elbasan, Korca and Vlora.
Can not forget to mention the ancient forts and castles of medieval Rozafa in Shkodra, Lezha, Kruja Preza, Petrela; Castle of Durres, Elbasan Sultan Mehmed, the Peqin, Berati, Kanina, Tepelena, Himara Porto Palermo, Qeparoi, Gjirokastra, Libohova, Lëkurësi, Butrint Vivari channel, etc..
There are numerous churches and monasteries as well as those of Roman-Gothic architecture as well as those Byzantine. We can mention the Rubik monastery, the Saint John Vladimir in Elbasan, to Ardenica, the Kolkondas in Libofshe, Apolonia, Zverneci in Vlore, the Dhermi, to Mesopotamia in Saranda, etc..
The value of iconographic ripe art we find in roman churches  of Sergius and Baku in Shirgj, or shen Andoni at the Cape of Rodon, as well as Byzantine churches of the castle of Berat, Voskopoja, Shelcani, Valshi and Elbasan, to Kosina in Permet , the Labova, of St. Jan in Boboshticë, the Ristozi in Mborje, the Virgin Mary in Llenge Pogradec, the Marmiroit in Orikum, etc..
 
The churches are decorated with masterpieces of Byzantine and postbizantine painting, starting from paleolog periods of art, which belongs to the XIV-XV centuries-back, till in the XIX century. A part of them are decorated with architectural elements influenced from Southern Italy. From the masters of this art who have left that day masterpieces preserved in museums, like National Museum, the museum ''Onufri “, made or Museum of Medieval Art in Korca, we can mention Onufri, named master of the flaming Red . Well known is his son Nicholas, who has decorated with his art the church of St. Nicholas in Kurjan and that of St. Mary Vllaherna in Berat. Other famous painters have also been Constantine Jeronomaku and David Selenica, whose activity can be seen in churches of Voskopoja, Constantine Shpataraku, Zografi brothers from Korca, and Çetiri family masters.
 
 
Interesting for the architecture are also numerous mosques to which adornments find ornate  and Arab calligraphy with texts from the Kuran. Can mention for their values and elegant forms the Mosque of E'them Bey in Tirana, Shkoder’s Lead Mosque, the mosque in the bazaar of Kruja, the Mosque King in the castle of Elbasan, Kavaja’s mosque, Lead and Bachelors in Berat, Muradije in Vlore, Gjirokaster Mosque, etc..
Albania is rich with numerous temples that belong to the Bektashi religious sect. Known are the Dollma tekke in Kruja, the Helveti in Berat, the Abbas Ali on Mount Tomori, the Frasheri in Permet, the Kuzum Baba in Vlora, Melan in Gjirokaster, etc..
From the historical past are inherited in very good conditions, even very ancient and medieval bridges from where we can mention bridges built with stone and equipped with bows as Mesi Bridge in Shkoder, the Vasha Bridge in Mat, the Goliku in Moker, Benja Bridge and Limari in Permet, bridge of Gorrica in Berat, the bridge  on the river Drino in Gjirokastra, etc.. Also the  iron construction bridges which were set up in the period between two world wars are interesting, from architecture and from the geography of their production. Such are iron bridges like the Seman in Fier, manufactured in Dortmund, or the bridge of Lekli over Drino, fabricated in Montpelie, France and the Dragoti bridge on Vjose, manufactured in Genoa, Italy.
